Welcome to Our Company
White Tulip Publishing is a company committed to the empowerment of children of all ages through educational and recreational means. We strive to create tools designed to provide parents, caregivers, counselors and educators with useful aids to address challenges they may face in a meaningful way.
Founded in 2003, White Tulip Publishing was created to fill a void in the wake of the tragic events of 9/11. A New York Times article that described children experiencing nightmares captured the attention of author Wendy Torrel. She noted that the book market offered ready material to help adults cope with traumatic events but few resources were available for children to help deal with the manifestation of their feelings of fear, anger and lack of control in their own lives. Having recently written about the subject matter, she was inspired to write the book GUARDIAN OF DREAMS: A Bedtime Story as an aid to coping with nightmares. The "guardian of dreams" is a beautifully illustrated horse called 'Night Mare' whose sage advice provides a novel and simple way of coping with a rabbit's sleepless state.
White Tulip Publishing has published its first book of a series. GUARDIAN OF DREAMS: A Bedtime Story is written as an aid for children who experience nightmares and encounter difficulty falling asleep again. It illustrates how nighttime's more fitful moments can be turned upside down when you know ways to "disappear" them. In providing children with a tool for addressing their fears and overcoming them, the book aims to restore the loss of confidence - and sleep - for little ones everywhere. One of the vehicles for doing so is the author's creation of a character that children can invoke and call on, thereby instilling a sense of comfort and security. An easy-to-remember core rhyming text on how to "disappear" unwanted imaginings is a principal attraction. Imaginative and purposeful, this book written by Wendy Torrel comes with appealing and endearing illustrations by renowned artist, Kendall Klingbeil -- a sure bet for reaching audiences that span across the ages.
Once the book was realized in print form, copies were immediately donated to the surviving families of emergency response workers involved in 9/11 in New York and in Washington DC. Ms. Torrel was acknowledged in New York and invited to the Pentagon in recognition of her gift and the contribution it made.
Though the story is short, its impact has been considerable. Over the years, this book has served to move children of all ages towards a greater sense of confidence. Adults have consistently expressed how the story made a difference in their life or their child’s life. Interactive discussions, artistic exercises and writing workshops, have further served to support forwarding the objective of this book in empowering others.
White Tulip Publishing is dedicated to providing children of all ages with useful references to cope with adversity in their lives. We continue to create and expand our product line.
